AWS Cost Optimization & FinOps Consulting
Make your cloud bill explainable, forecastable, and defensible to finance. We audit your spend, eliminate waste, and build cost governance that holds.
AWS Cost Audit Inputs
Oversized everything
Provisioned capacity may exceed observed demand. Check peaks, memory, latency and recovery needs before resizing; low average CPU alone does not prove a resource is oversized.
Stale configurations
Databases with autoscaling turned off from a year ago when someone was scared of a bad deployment. Reserved instances that no longer match actual usage. Services in every region "just in case."
Invisible data costs
S3 buckets retaining data nobody uses. Data transfer costs that nobody tracked until finance asked. Cross-region traffic that could be eliminated with a routing change.
Optimization paralysis
Teams who tried to optimize costs and ended up breaking something. Now nobody touches it. The bill keeps growing because the alternative feels riskier than paying it.
AWS Cost Reduction Consulting
Review billing, traffic, demand peaks and operating constraints together. Explain why a change could reduce cost, what it could affect, and which evidence is still missing.
Analyze and validate
Review rightsizing, commitments, transfer paths, storage lifecycle and idle resources against billing and workload evidence. Record the baseline period, utilization peaks, service objectives and uncertainty before recommending a change.
Implement with control
Where implementation is agreed, sequence changes with named owners, acceptance checks and a return path. Rehearse consequential changes and verify dependencies before removal. Some purchases and deletions are irreversible; their approval and recovery limits must be explicit.
Install guardrails
Define anomaly detection, allocation rules, dashboards and review ownership for the agreed scope. Test coverage and route findings to someone who can act. Alerts make drift visible; they do not guarantee a lower bill or enforce a spending cap.
Savings estimates depend on demand, pricing, commitments and the chosen measurement period. Implementation is separately agreed, and no savings percentage or zero-downtime outcome is guaranteed by this assessment.
Cost Optimization Findings & Measurement Plan
Compare estimated and realized cost at comparable demand. Include migration effort, commitment obligations, operating labour and any change in reliability or latency.
Define allocation rules, anomaly review and decision ownership. Agree which controls will be implemented and how their coverage will be tested.
Validated savings map
Reviewed opportunities with estimated savings, baseline evidence, confidence, risk, effort and dependencies. Record evidence gaps and distinguish an estimate from a realized reduction.
Sequenced implementation plan
What to change first, what depends on what, and rollback procedures for each step.
Cost governance framework
Anomaly detection, tagging policies, and spend dashboards so new costs are visible from day one.
Results
Attributed
Spend is connected to products, environments, workloads, owners, and business activity before optimization.
Measured
Each change has a baseline, expected mechanism, risk, observation window, and rollback condition.
Risk-aware
Reliability, latency, security, delivery effort, and operational labour remain inside the cost decision.
Prioritized
Waste removal, commitment changes, architecture work, and governance are sequenced by evidence and reversibility.
Owned
Anomalies, budgets, unit economics, exceptions, and follow-up actions have named owners.
Sustained
Optimization is paired with controls that detect new drift instead of presenting a one-time savings estimate.
Measurement and acceptance
Agree the baseline, workload units, billing period and acceptance checks. Report observed savings separately from estimates and record changes in demand or pricing that affect the comparison.

Turn an AWS cost concern into a testable decision
AWS cost reduction consulting should begin with a reconciled bill and workload evidence. A lower invoice is useful only if the required service continues to work.
Start with the decision, not account access
Tell us what changed: a rising AWS bill, a renewal, a demand shift, or a workload that no longer looks economical. Share the outcome you need, the deadline, and the reliability constraints. The initial conversation establishes fit and the evidence needed for a scoped assessment; it is not a completed audit. Do not send credentials, account exports, or customer data through the contact form. Any later access, data handling, scope, deliverables, acceptance criteria and commercial terms are agreed separately.
Discuss an AWS cost concernWhat an AWS cost audit examines
Reconcile account and service totals, then separate demand, rates, credits, commitments, and currency effects. Investigate idle resources, oversized instances, retention policies, cross-zone traffic, and repeated processing. Give each finding an owner, a baseline, a proposed change, and a verification window.
Investigate a rising AWS billWhat the written assessment should contain
For the agreed accounts and workloads, document the billing period, demand baseline, allocation gaps and evidence limitations. Prioritize findings by expected cost mechanism, confidence, engineering effort, dependencies and operational risk. Each proposed change should name its decision owner, acceptance checks, observation window and rollback limits. Separate estimated opportunities from measured reductions. Implementation, commitment purchases and recurring governance are separately agreed work, not implied by receiving the assessment.
Review the cost optimization playbookIllustrative finding: a scheduled test environment
Example only, not a customer result: a team suspects its non-production compute runs outside working hours. Check the agreed billing period against utilization, test schedules, dependencies and overnight jobs. A proposed stop/start schedule may remove idle compute hours, but storage, commitments and other charges can remain. The environment owner must approve the schedule and exclusions. Verify successful startup before the next test window, job completion and actual billed usage over a comparable period. Record any failed restart and the fallback procedure. Do not claim savings before reconciling these observations.
Explore an adjustable cloud cost scenarioFinOps consulting and ongoing ownership
Make shared costs and allocation rules explicit. Compare cost per meaningful business unit alongside latency, availability, and throughput. Rightsizing, commitment purchases, and architectural changes have different reversibility and demand risks. A cost review should distinguish immediate cleanup from changes that require workload tests or commercial approval.

What is included in cloud cost optimization consulting?
The work connects billing to workload usage, identifies idle capacity, reviews compute sizing, storage, data transfer and commitments, and prioritizes changes by savings potential and operating risk. Implementation and ongoing governance are agreed in the engagement scope.
How do you verify savings without reducing reliability?
Compare spend and unit cost against a defined baseline while tracking traffic, latency, error rates and capacity. Each change needs an observation window and rollback condition. A lower bill caused by lower usage is not automatically an optimization result.
Should we buy Savings Plans before rightsizing?
First establish the usage that will remain after planned optimization and migration. Commitments based on capacity you intend to remove can create avoidable cost. Coverage, term, payment options and flexibility should be evaluated against that stable demand.
What information is needed for a cloud cost review?
Start with billing exports, resource inventory, usage metrics, tagging or ownership records, and known growth or migration plans. Agree least-privilege access and data handling before sharing information. Missing attribution becomes a finding, not a reason to guess savings.
