When a game-day schedule breaks
A worked youth sports scheduling decision: compare manual repair, rules-based validation, and optional AI explanation before choosing a safe publication flow.
A free field is not a safe answer
A field closes after a fixture is published. A valid repair depends on current venue, team and official state, policy, authorization, and communication.
Which record is allowed to change?
The competition, venue, and officials systems may own different facts. Resolve authority conflicts before choosing cloud services. The full scheduling consistency paper covers downstream records and projections.
Automate validity, not authority
Compare manual repair, a rules engine with approval, and optional AI explanation. Rules eliminate prohibited moves. AI may explain feasible choices but cannot establish eligibility or publish a schedule. A human approves and the system re-checks the revision.
Commit the decision once. Deliver the message reliably
A proposed AWS implementation commits the schedule and outbox intent together, then handles notifications asynchronously with retries and reconciliation.
The same decision does not require the same deployment everywhere
One programme, several organizations, and a large network have different isolation, operations, and cost needs. Sizing requires actual workload evidence.
A clean diagram is not a passing test
Invalid options, model outages, stale approvals, and failed notifications each need a defined behavior and verification test.
